A colleague asked me this morning whether I’d planted this story in the Albany Times-Union describing the movements of Saratoga and Ulster Counties to unload their nursing homes. My response? “Didn’t need to. Reality intrudes.” At least in Saratoga and Ulster and many other counties in New York. Albany County? Not so much.

Another NY County Shedding its Nursing Home

No budget detail yet, but as part of its budget process, Ulster County has determined to get out of the nursing home business. They’ve established a county-run limited development corporation (LDC) as an intermediary to smooth the process. More details later.
